Love is in the Air
When it comes to romantic dining, simply head for Silavadee Pool Spa Resort.
This February, romance is again in the air, and not just on Valentine’s Day. All kinds of romantic events abound this month, including weddings. Silavadee Pool Spa Resort is one of the most intimate and serene places on Samui and offers everything to make a romantic time extra special. In this article we focus on the resort’s various exciting private dining experiences. Whether you tell your partner in advance or wish to surprise them, Silavadee offers wonderful choices. It has a cachet for romance, and that’s in part thanks to its excellent facilities – they are beyond what most guests expect, and the resort’s teams consistently deliver some of the best experiences around. Silavadee, with its three restaurants and top-calibre chefs, makes sure that you’re guaranteed a gourmet time. And this February, there’s even more inspiration as Silavadee is going all out to imbue wining and dining with as much romance as possible.
Silavadee always surprises its guests, and this usually begins once you reach the resort. Unlike so many, it’s not even close to its neighbours, but is set in a magnificent space all of its own. The name says everything – Silavadee translates to English as ‘beautiful rocks’. The lush gardens here are studded with boulders and set high above the ocean. It’s a dramatic landscape and one that always impresses - a mix of land and sea and sky.
Below are some of the dining options available, not just this February but also other months. Just make sure you make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance to avoid disappointment.
Chef’s Table at Star
Silavadee is one of the very few resorts on Samui to boast an open-air rooftop deck. Simply called Star, you can see the entire night sky if you look up. You’ll be seated at one of only four tables which are sunk down into a shallow infinity pool, while one of Silavadee’s talented chefs prepares a six-course degustation menu right at your table. (For this you can even bring your children or another couple as four guests can be seated together.) The dinner, in such settings, is a delight for all the senses and is served only here at Star. The price per person is 3,890 baht net
‘Once in a Lifetime’ Dom Perignon Exclusive Private Dinner
This appropriately named feast is indeed something that everyone should experience once in their lives. It’s perhaps the ultimate dining experience, with a special evening of pure sophistication. It’s hosted at Sun Deck, which has a 360 degree ocean view and is completely hidden away. Here guests get to create their very own menu, first meeting their chef and discussing preferences. Only a very experienced chef can handle this kind of event; key ingredients such as lobster, scallops or top-grade beef are used. But basically, it’s whatever the couple would like. The chef then prepares all six courses from scratch, totally focussed on the couple’s wishes. It’s incredibly personalized. It’s as fun as it is yummy, and romantic to the core. No two feasts are alike, except for the bottle of Dom Perignon that is an integral part of the proceedings.
Dining times are upon request, and you’ll definitely need to book at least 24 hours in advance, longer if possible, as the entire deck is reserved just for one couple per evening. The price is 25,000 baht net per couple including a bottle of Dom Perignon and the six-course crafted dinner menu, or 19,000 baht net per couple including a bottle of Moet Chandon Champagne.
Moet Chandon Private Champagne Breakfast on the Beach.
Come early to Silavadee and you can partake in one of Samui’s most luxurious breakfasts. It’s completely private and is held on an intimate spot on the beach. What could be better as a backdrop than the lapping waves, just a few metres away? The best time to come is at sunrise but the breakfast can be served anytime in the morning.
You’ll be able to enjoy fresh strawberries, house-smoked salmon, freshly baked croissants with homemade jams and French butter, to name just a few of the treats. A discreet beach butler will stand by to ensure all your requests are met. Breakfast on the beach is made totally comfortable thanks to plush cushions, while chic draping help makes this occasion a vacation highlight. Be prepared to linger as the Moet Chandon is, of course, to be savoured. The price is 8,900 baht net per couple.
Silavadee Pool Spa Resort is definitely a place for romance, but not only in February. The beautiful setting and always-delicious food make this venue outstanding, no matter when you choose to visit.
