Samui has it all when it comes to food and drink.
The abundance of excellent food and drink on Samui, and its sheer variety, is enough to induce near-amazement at first glance. How can there be so much of it? And so many restaurants? And they’re all packed into a smallish island. No wonder Samui is so feted. Before they arrive, some holidaymakers might think it’s no more than hype. Once here however, it’s clear that the island caters extremely well for all its visitors - effortlessly serving up breakfast, lunch, dinner and all the snacks in between for big, small and gourmet appetites.
This October, as the northern hemisphere winds further down towards winter, come and enjoy all that Samui has to offer, not just its seas and warm weather, but the amazing cornucopia of fruits, vegetables and herbs, many of which grow on the island naturally. They just add goodness and variety to what the chefs are planning to put on the table.
You’ll probably want to try out Thai food, and no, not all of it is hot. Glance through the pages of this month’s Wining & Dining and you’ll find plenty of places to inspire you. The same goes for international fare. Even if Samui is far from the west, it’s still very much a culinary part of it, and there’s no need to miss out on your favourite foods, even if they’re on the obscure side. Time to enjoy, to savour and to celebrate great times – in whatever way you choose!
