Special Times

We all love an excuse to celebrate and Chinese New Year and St. Valentine’s Day gives us two!

1Samui’s certainly the right place to be in February this year, with two great occasions being celebrated.

Firstly, we have Chinese New Year on the 3rd, heralding the Year of The Rabbit. And you can find out all about this spectacular occasion on page 3 where there’s an interesting article by Feature Writer, Rob De Wet, explaining the ins and outs. The festivities go on for a whopping 15 days and, wherever you are on the island, you’re sure to become involved at some point.

And, secondly, we have St. Valentine’s Day on the 14th. And there’s no better place in the world for spending a romantic day together with your partner than Samui. Read our other full-time Feature Writer, Johnny Paterson’s, article on pages 12 and 13 where he highlights four of the island’s most romantic restaurants that are well prepared for those romantics amongst you who are looking for somewhere special to enjoy this special day with a top-notch candle-lit dinner. But do make sure of reserving your table well in advance wherever you’re dining, as there are far more people wanting a special location for this once-a-year romantic occasion than there are tables to accommodate them all.

So, whether you’re hoping to experience seeing the Chinese Lion Dance with your friends, or, you’re planning to propose marriage to your loved one on the 14th, you’ve certainly come to the right place.

Happy celebrations!
