Fun For All

It’s not only Christians who take part in the Christmas festivities.

1Since the earliest days of man, it was the time of year for celebrating the return of the sun at the winter solstice, when the days would begin getting longer again. And, later on, the early Christian leaders nominally dated the birth of Jesus Christ to be December the 25th in a successful attempt to woo over the pagans to Christianity, without losing a time-honoured period of feasting and celebrations.

Now, 2,000 years on, most people in the world, whether they are Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews or even Atheists, join in the festivities – even if they don’t actually observe the religious connection. We all like a party and any good excuse to self-indulge is normally received with open arms; Christmas being a perfect reason!

And on Samui, in this devout Buddhist country, you’ll find Christmas being celebrated everywhere you go. The Thais are a fun-loving people and really know how to enjoy themselves. So, what better place to spend your Christmas holiday?

Back home, you’d probably spend the day at home with your family and you wouldn’t be going out to eat. But here, that’s just what you will be doing, so it makes sense to go somewhere special for the occasion. And, by using the restaurants featured in Samui Wining & Dining, you’re guaranteed exactly that. Just make sure you book early – there are a lot of other people here celebrating Christmas, too!
