Happy Thai New Year

Although it’s in the middle of the ‘dry’ season, Thailand’s famous ‘Songkran’ water festival to celebrate its New Year is a very wet occasion

1 We’ve already had the Western New Year celebrations on 31st December. And we’ve also enjoyed the Chinese New Year festivities on the 23rd January. So now’s the time for joining in the fun of the last but definitely not least New Year – Thailand’s wet and wonderful Songkran, which is celebrated on the 13th of April (see article on pages 2 and 3). And the spirit of excitement spreads throughout the month of April, making it definitely the best month to visit Thailand.

But being in Thailand, in general, and Samui, in particular, at this time of year isn’t just about sloshing water over each other for a day or two. It’s also about enjoying the other year-round attractions, one of which is the excellent wining and dining opportunities

And with every type of cuisine on offer here, from Indian and Italian through to French and Japanese, and not forgetting the planet’s favourite cuisine – Thai, Samui gives you more choices than many of the world’s major cities. Plus you can find terrific food to suit every budget. There’s everything available, from tasty Thai noodles at roadside huts through to Michelin-standard International fare at breathtaking 5-star ‘palaces’. And they all offer great value-for-money.

So whilst you’re here this month, have fun, get wet and tuck-in to the fabulous food.

Happy Thai New Year!
